Three months on from an unforgettable day in Nottingham last June, today (Wednesday 19 September) the doors are opened and ready to welcome the first influx of participants who will join us on the start line in 2019.
Those who pre-registered for the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay Nottingham ahead of midnight Tuesday 18 September will be given access to an exclusive five-day window to secure their place in this limited capacity event from 3pm.
The event, taking place Saturday 15 June 2019, saw hundreds of local participants take on virtually the same course as the elite stars last summer; a mixture of excited newbies and experience age-group athletes. On top of this, Olympic swimming hero, Rebecca Adlington also took to the River Trent, making up one third of a sprint relay team who were welcomed home in front of the iconic War Memorial to roaring crowds.
This year, the event has even greater status for amateur participants, with British Triathlon having announced this week that the British Triathlon Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships will be staged here and ensuring a heightened demand for entries. Advice is to secure your spot early to avoid missing out.
And if you’ve not even thought about what a tri suit is yet or contemplated dipping a toe in the Trent – fear not. Nottingham has a series of GO TRI sessions taking place across the city and county from now until June to get you completely ready to stand on that start line with confidence.
Nottingham has opened its arms to the sport over the last two years, welcoming the very best triathletes from across the globe to showcase their talents in front of thousands of excited fans. 2018 ITU World Champion, Vicky Holland, made up one quarter of the silver medal-winning Great Britain squad last year who took on the sport’s newest and most exciting discipline along the city’s Victoria Embankment and wowed the crowd with a fast and furious mixed relay display.
So, what are you waiting for? Make your 2019 challenge to take on the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay Nottingham. You won’t regret it, we promise.
Come Monday 24 September and the doors will be open to both British Triathlon Home Nation members and Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay Nottingham past participants to secure their spot. Remaining places will then be on general sale from Monday 8 October.
